Nonstop for Nonprofits program subsidizes the cost for
an exclusive training to elevate board leadership
Non-traditional healthcare broker Nonstop and the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) have partnered to offer independent sector organizations in Southern California an in-depth training designed to strengthen executive and board leadership. Through the Nonstop for Nonprofits program, Nonstop has granted $25,000 to CNM to fund the Nonprofit Board Excellence Training – a multi-day workshop that will use collaborative “action-learning” to focus on board leadership and oversight, governance and performance, and financial sustainability and fund development.
“Our mission at Nonstop is to support nonprofit growth and sustainability, and one way we do that is by designating a significant portion of our revenue for grants in the communities we serve,” said David Sloves, CEO of Nonstop. “We are thrilled to provide the funding for CNM’s Board Excellence Training as it allows us to offer a valuable service to nonprofit executives and board members in Southern California.”
The Nonprofit Board Excellence Training, open to ten area organizations, is subsidized for each participating executive/board team through the Nonstop for Nonprofit program (valued at $1,650 per team). Prior to the training a comprehensive online assessment survey will help identify an organization’s effectiveness and opportunities for improvement. Post-training, three individual hour-long coaching/consulting sessions will be offered to each nonprofit to support communication to the rest of the organization.
"Strong executive and board leadership teams are critical to an organization's success,” said Regina Birdsell, President and CEO of CNM. “The generous funding we have received from the Nonstop for Nonprofits program allows CNM's experienced staff to teach board and executives strategies for increasing effectiveness and how they can work better together to achieve their mission.”
The Nonprofit Board Excellence Training series will kick off in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 20. Subsequent Saturday sessions will take place on March 18, April 16, and May 7. All sessions will take place between 9 am-12:30 pm. The cost for registration is $300 per organization and allows for up to four team members to participate in the entire series.
