Drew Altman, President and Chief Executive of the Kaiser Family Foundation, shares his perspective on how affordable the Affordable Care Act really is, for both those insured in the marketplace and through employers.

Specific to employer-sponsored healthcare, Altman cites research that shows "payments toward deductibles by consumers who have insurance through large employers rose 256% from 2004 to 2014; over the same period, wages increased 32%.” Altman discusses the financial pressure for employers to shift costs to employees, even when they know it’s not a great option. According to Altman “The question of how much cost-sharing is too much, and what to do about it, could be the next big debate in health care – once the political world moves on from its focus on the ACA."
